Jan Felderhof was born in Bussum on September 25, 1907. He died on March 4, 2006 in Laren.
Education
He studied violin with Felice Togni and Hendrik Rijnbergen, composition with Sem Dresden and school music with Chris Bos.
Activities
He was a teacher at the Amsterdam Conservatory of Music and the Utrecht Conservatory. He was also headmaster of the Music School in Bussum and the Rotterdam Conservatory of Music. He was a critic for several daily newspapers. He was choirmaster and played the violin with a.o. Johan van den Boogert, Rutger Schoute, Cor de Groot, Maurice van IJzer, Piet van Egmond, Jan and Herman Nieland and Frans Hasselaar. For his pupils he wrote Practische Harmonieleer (Practical Theory of Harmony).
Compositions
Felderhof wrote music for (school) orchestra, chamber music, vocal music and 2 operas.
